What’s not to like about going to college in San Diego? There are several colleges and universities in San Diego to consider: University of California at San Diego [UCSD], University of San Diego, Point Loma Nazarene University and San Diego State University.
There’s a vibrancy to San Diego State. It’s a large university with some 28,000 enrolled students. While there are residencies on campus, many students commute.
In October, 2011, when I was over in the UK, I had the opportunity of visiting with a friend and her daughter who is a student at Oxford and who gave me a grand tour of the colleges. Oxford is a university but made up of thirty-eght colleges and six permanent private halls.

One of the truly fascinating aspects about college admissions counseling is becoming aware of colleges and universities of which we have had very little knowledge.
One such school was the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. UCF is the second largest university in enrollment size in the country with 58,000 presently enrolled students [second only to Arizona State].
